The International Cricket Council (ICC) is currently mediating talks between India and Pakistan over the deadlock on Champions Trophy 2025. The announcement of the schedule for the marquee event has been delayed after India refused to travel to Pakistan for CT 2025, leading to stalemate between BCCI and PCB. While Pakistan had reportedly agreed to a hybrid model for Champions Trophy, nothing has been made official by the ICC yet.
ICC mediates talks between India, Pakistan over Champions Trophy
As per Cricket Pakistan, the Pakistan Cricket Board has stationed two officials in Dubai to hold talks with ICC and BCCI over Champions Trophy deadlock. Ex-PCB Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer and COO Sumair Syed have been asked to stay in Dubai to hold talks with the stakeholders to resolve the deadlock. The report states that the announcement about the schedule for the tournament is expected to be made this week as discussions are moving in a “positive direction”.

Earlier, reports had claimed that ICC had accepted Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) demand for hybrid model for all ICC events till 2027. PCB had asked the ICC to ensure equality in issues related to India and put forth a demand that all further India-Pakistan matches should be held in Dubai, to which the global body has agreed.
The ICC Champions Trophy will be held in a hybrid model, with India playing its matches in Dubai while the event spans the UAE and Pakistan, as per reports. However, this is yet to be finalized and is expected to be taken up for discussion when ICC chairman Jay Shah meets the Board of Directors in Dubai.
PCB had received approval for the draft schedule by the ICC in June 2024. ICC did not make any changes to the schedule and instead said it will circulate it among other seven boards for their approval.
