The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 has set amazing new records for viewership in India, even beating the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. The tournament saw a huge 23% rise in TV ratings, proving just how popular cricket is in India.
Star Sports broadcasted the tournament with 137 billion minutes of watch time, and JioHotstar recorded 110 billion minutes. The final match between India and New Zealand on March 9 in Dubai helped boost these numbers, with 122 million watching live on TV and 61 million on JioHotstar. This was a new high for digital viewing of cricket.
Final match records
The final became the second most-watched ODI on TV outside ICC World Cup games, with 230 million viewers and 53 billion minutes of watch time. ICC Chair Jay Shah said, “The Champions Trophy came back amazingly after eight years, and the viewership from India has been incredible, especially for the final between India and New Zealand.”
Sanjog Gupta, CEO Sports at JioStar, talked about the efforts behind the big numbers. “This success comes from having the widest platform for sports, focusing on fan stories, and using great technology,” he explained. The marketing brought in many viewers from different devices, helped by India’s winning streak.
