Riyan Parag lit the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on fire! Yesterday (March 28), the talented 22-year-old scored what was just his fourth IPL fifty in the last six seasons. Having joined the franchise in 2019, the batter produced questionable performances year after year, but the Rajasthan Royals continued to back him.
Scrutinized for his performance on the field and some of his comments off it, Parag finally came good. But it turns out that it isn’t Sanju Samson, the coaches, or the franchise that are to be credited for it. Instead, all the plaudits must go to Yuzvendra Chahal.
Well, not exactly. After his blistering 84-run knock, he revealed the reason behind his newfound success. Talking with the spinner on RoyalTV, Chahal posted a hilarious post towards the batter. “In the last over, did you see me getting padded up and decide not to let me have a go? he asked.
Amused by the question, Riyan Parag jokingly replied, “No, I just wanted to keep you fresh for bowling. I didn’t want to disturb you. You would have had to come out and hit a couple of sixes for no reason. So, I thought, I’ll bat instead and not disturb you.“
