Chahal looks to spin IND vs WI series in India’s favour, Check out his T20 records

Yuzvendra Chahal looks to turn the IND vs WI series in India's favour; check out his impressive records in T20I cricket.

Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal once again showed his mettle in the IND vs WI 2nd T20I after being dropped from the ODI series against West Indies. Chahal, India’s most prolific bowler in T20 history, put his hand up when skipper Hardik Pandya needed it the most. The spinner ended the match with the figures of 3-0-19-2, picking up Jason Holder and Shemron Hetmyer in his third and last over.

The spinner from Haryana tipped the match in India’s favour but wasn’t given a chance to take his side home. Here are some impressive records the spinner holds and the others that he can reach during the IND vs WI T20 Series:

Chahal top 10 wicket-taker in T20Is

With his 95 wickets in 77 matches, the right-arm spinner currently stands 11th among the highest wicket-takers in T20Is. With just one wicket, the spinner would tie Chris Jordan’s tally of 96 wickets in nine fewer matches.

Chahal tied English leg-spinner Adil Rashid after picking up two wickets in the 2nd T20I against the West Indies and can now tie or overtake Jordan to move from the 12th to the 10th spot in the space of two matches.

Chahal 1st Indian to take 100 wickets in T20Is

Yuzvendra Chahal is India’s highest wicket-taker in T20 history and is on track to become the first Indian bowler to pick up 100 wickets. Chahal will also be the 7th player in history to reach the milestone. If the leg spinner can reach the milestone in the next T20I match he plays against the West Indies on August 8, he will become the 3rd joint fastest to 100 wickets. Chahal will tie another leg spinner, Ish Sodhi, who took his 100th wicket in his 78th match.

First Indian bowler to take a 5-wicket haul in T20Is

Chahal became the first Indian bowler to take a 5-wicket haul in T20Is on February 1, 2017, in the 3rd T20I against England. The leg-spinner ended the match with a figure of 6/25 in his quota of four overs.

First leg-spinner to take 5 & 6-wicket hauls in T20Is

In the same match he took India’s first five-wicket haul against England, Chahal also became the first leg-spinner to pick up five and six-wicket hauls in international T20 cricket.

Apart from these three records in 2017, Chahal was also the highest wicket-taker in T20Is, picking up 23 wickets.
