CCL: Riteish Deshmukh-led Mumbai Heroes claim 9-run victory over Indrajith’s Kerala Strikers

Sharad Kelkar was awarded the Man of the match for his performance in the Second innings

CCL: In a remarkable second-innings performance, Navdeep Tomar and Saqib Saleem propelled Mumbai Indians to a 9-run victory over Kerala Strikers. Mumbai Heroes won the toss and elected to bat first. Arjun Nandakumar made an impressive start for Kerala Strikers by taking three wickets, restricting Mumbai Heroes to only 76-7.

He continued his good form with the bat as Kerala Strikers took a lead of 6 runs, finishing at 85-5. Mumbai Heroes staged a significant comeback in the second innings, with Sharad Kelkar and Navdeep Tomar guiding them to a stellar total of 100 for 6. Kerala Strikers were left with a daunting chase of 92 runs.

Sharad Kelkar played a crucial role in the second innings, scoring 35 important runs. Saqib Saleem contributed by dismissing Vivek Gopan and Sanju Sivaram, while also running out Sidharth Menon. This effort by Sharad Kelkar and Saqib Saleem gave Riteish Deshmukh and his team an essential 3 points.

Sharjah Cricket Stadium will host the opening match of the CCL 2024. The wicket at the venue is ideally good for batting when the ball is new. However, the spinners come into play as the game progresses. The skipper winning the toss might look to have a field first.
