India cricket team’s training session on Wednesday saw both captain Rohit Sharma and his deputy Shubman Gill missing from the practice. The Hitman picked up an hamstring injury scare during the Champions Trophy tie against Pakistan. Meanwhile, Gill is reportedly unwell and hence skipped practice on Wednesday. The Men in Blue, who have sealed their berth in the semi-finals, will take on New Zealand in their final group stage fixture on Sunday.
Rohit, Gill skip training ahead of NZ tie
As per a Cricbuzz report, Rohit watched on from the sidelines as the team trained at the ICC Academy on Wednesday. The report states that the Indian skipper was cautious to not aggravate his hamstring injury ahead of the NZ tie and the knockout stages of Champions Trophy. However, the report added that no official statement was issued over his non-participation in the training session.

Meanwhile, the report stated that Shubman had skipped the training session as he was unwell. Gill stayed indoors on Wednesday while the rest of the side took part in an intense training session. As per the report, the Indian vice-captain is expected to recover in time for the clash against New Zealand.
Rishabh Pant, who was suffering from a fever, batted for an extended period of time in the nets on Wednesday. Mohammed Shami bowled at full throttle to the batters, including Virat Kohli, but did not bat.
India beat Bangladesh in their Champions Trophy opener to start off the tourney on a winning note. They then defeated arch-rivals Pakistan by 6 wickets to punch their ticket to the semis. Both India and New Zealand have qualified for the semi-finals, having won both the matches they’ve played so far.
