Ahead of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), PCB chief Zaka Ashraf has claimed that the PSL now has bagged the highest ever broadcast deals. It is expected that the current PSL broadcasting rights have seen a rise of around Rs 3 billion. Back in 2021 the previous broadcast deal ran for a period of 2 years and fetched a sum Rs. 4.35 bn.
But as per the recent biddings, the new PSL broadcasting rights, the surge of 3 billion will see that the deal rises up to around Rs 7.35 bn.
“The bidding for the PSL broadcasting rights has seen an increase of Rs 3 billion more this time, which is the highest in the league’s history,” Zaka Ashraf said in a press conference in Lahore.
“It was a positive day for the PCB yesterday as we successfully concluded the domestic broadcast rights deal for PSL season 9 in Pakistan,” said PSL Commissioner Naila Bhatti.
The PSL commissioner further added that there were four bidders that contested for the broadcast deal. These included the likes of Geo Sports, PTV, Tower Sports and ARY Sports. Furthermore, after the second round, it was revealed that ARY was leading the charts after bidding the highest amount.
“ARY elevated its bid by 47-48 per cent compared to the last bidding cycle,” Naila Bhatti commented.
