“Can’t plan for MS Dhoni” – Punjab Kings’ Arshdeep Singh’s honest admission before IPL 2025

“Can’t plan for MS Dhoni” – Punjab Kings’ Arshdeep Singh’s honest admission before IPL 2025

Arshdeep has played thrice against Dhoni and hasn't been able to dismiss him.

Arshdeep Singh is one of the best T20 bowlers in the world. In back-to-back T20 World Cups, the left-arm pacer was Team India’s highest wicket-taker, and since making his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut in 2019, only eight bowlers have more wickets than him. Despite all of this, Punjab Kings’ Arshdeep hasn’t got a clue about his bowling plans to semi-retired MS Dhoni.

Arshdeep Singh has ‘no plans’ against MS Dhoni

The former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain has gradually demoted himself down the order and faced just 130 balls in the last two seasons of the IPL. But reading Thala remains a mystery to many, including Arshdeep. The 130 deliveries he’s faced have resulted in 265 runs, and last season he didn’t spare top bowlers like Anrich Nortje.

Arshdeep says he doesn’t exactly know how to get MS Dhoni out. So, his go-to plan is to get the wicketkeeper off the strike and try to get the other batters out. The pacer elaborated how if Dhoni’s in a six-hitting mode, you can’t really stop him, so it’s best to keep him away from the strike and chip away at the others.

“My plan is only to how to get him off strike. I also have plans for other batters. You can’t have a plan for him; it depends on his mood when to hit sixes and when not to,” Arshdeep said on Agenda AajTak.
