With just a few days left before India take the field for the T20 World Cup 2024, the excitement for the nation’s cricket lovers are at its peak. India start their T20 World Cup campaign against Ireland on June 5. Ahead of their opening match, India take on Bangladesh in their only warm-up game before the big tournament. The challenge for Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid in the IND vs BAN match would be to find the combination for their playing XI in the T20 WC.
India seek answers before T20 World Cup
Rohit Sharma and the team management will need to answer a lot of burning questions before they can find the right combination for the tournament. With a plethora of talent in the team, it can be a daunting task for the team management to leave some of the best talents of the country out of the playing XI. Let’s take a look at some of the questions that will need to be figured out soon.
Sanju Samson or Rishabh Pant?
India have named two wicketkeepers in their 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. While both Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson did reasonably well in the IPL 2024, India can only play one of them in the T20 World Cup. However, with Kohli arriving at the US after a 15-hour long flight, he is unlikely to play a part in the warm-up tie. Samson can slot in at the top order for the Bangladesh match, with Rishabh in the lower middle-order. This will provide Rohit with a chance to determine who goes into the starting XI in T20 World Cup.
Ravindra Jadeja or Axar Patel?
Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel are similar kind of players. Both bat down the order and bowl left-arm orthodox. So unless its a very spinner-friendly pitch, only one of them will get a chance. Jadeja is miles ahead of Axar in terms of preference, but Axar can provide a solid performance against Bangladesh and force his selection.

Yuzvendra Chahal or Kuldeep Yadav?
India have two specialist spinners in their ranks in the form o Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. Both put in solid performances in IPL 2024, with the former taking 18 wickets in 15 matches and the latter taking 16 wickets in 11 matches. However, India are unlikely to play both in the team, with Kuldeep slightly ahead of Chahal because of the X-factor.
Warm-up match final chance to determine playing XI?
A warm-up match is primarily played to acclimatize to the conditions of the country before a big tournament. However, for Rohit Sharma and co, it is also about finding answers to some pertaining questions. It is the last time India will get such a chance before the T20 World Cup 2024 kicks off.
