Speaking with ESPNcricinfo, McDonald sounded confident about Cameron Green’s recovery given the time left for India series. The coach said that the challenge will be to get creative with his training during rehabilitation.

McDonald said, “I am confident that he will be fit in the time frame that has been given. The challenge will be to make sure that we can be creative in the way that he trains and make sure that his body is in order to mitigate if something else goes wrong, which can always happen when you’re coming back from an injury.”

Apart from providing update on Cameron green injury, McDonald also showered praise on the medical team.  The 41-year-old was pleased with the job done by the Australian medical staff with Cameron Green’s finger injury.  He said “The medical team have done an outstanding job. “The risk was not there to lengthen the injury and that’s why he batted in that first innings. So the time frame remains the same as the initial prognosis for his return from injury. He’ll be fit and available for that first Test match,”. Recently Cameron Green had also stated that he was looking forward for the India tour.

Green said,  “A lot of people talk about the tour to India, how tough it is mentally and physically. It‘s going to be a massive tour for us. We’re as best prepared as we’re ever going to be, so (I’m) looking forward to it.” Australia are yet to win a series in India since 2004 and the Kangaroos will continue with their tradition of not playing practice match before the series.

The Australia tour of India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will kickstart in Nagpur from the 9th of February. The next three Test matches will be played in Delhi, Dharamshala & Ahmedabad. The four-match Test series is scheduled to start on February 9 and it will go on until March 13. This will also be the last edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy which will be a 4-match Test series feature. The home series will then conclude with a three-match ODI series that will be held in Mumbai, Vizag & Chennai.
