The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) which had initially made huge plans to celebrate Virat Kohli’s birthday at the Eden Gardens has restricted some of their grand plans. Most of the glitz and the grandeur have been scrapped away while just the fireworks show will be available for the fans at the stadium.
Initially, the CAB decided to celebrate Kohli’s 35th birthday before the much anticipated India vs South Africa clash on 5th November. But, now the apex cricketing body of West Bengal cricket has snubbed their initial plans.
No more special cake-cutting ceremony. Kohli’s birthday was to be celebrated with a special cake-cutting ceremony ahead of the game. But now as per the latest reports, there won’t be a cake-cutting ceremony. On the other hand, Virat’s birthday cake will be sent directly to the dressing room.

What plans have been changed?
Quite a few plans have been changed as far as Virat Kohli’s birthday celebration is concerned at the Eden Gardens. The CAB previously decided to distribute 70,000 Kohli masks to the fans as a tribute to the star cricketer. But now, no such masks will be distributed. The cake-cutting ceremony was also to be a proper event, which will not take place in front of the fans.
Only the fireworks show and the laser shows will take place for the enjoyment of the fans.
“We have ordered a cake for Virat, and the design will be something everyone identifies with Virat Kohli,” CAB President Snehasish Ganguly told RevSportz.
“I am not sharing the pictures yet, for let that be a surprise. Also, we plan to host a fireworks show during the mid-innings interval for Virat and the crowd. It will be our way of celebrating his birthday, and our way of saying that the entire Kolkata crowd are part of the celebrations. We are sure of a full house and everyone in the stands is a Virat fan. It is a gesture on behalf of all of them,” Ganguly added.

With 48 ODI centuries, Kohli is just a ton behind matching the great Sachin Tendulkar. Pundits have tipped that Kohli has a wonderful opportunity to slam his 49th ton against the Proteas on his Birthday at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata.
A full house is expected on 5th November when India faces the Proteas. A bonus for the Kolkata crowd will be the Birthday celebration of Virat Kohli. Therefore it can be expected that the Eden Gardens crowd will be keen for Kohli to put up a stunning show on his birthday and quite possibly match Sachin Tendulkar for the 49th ODI ton record.
