Brendon McCullum looking forward to facing the ‘best team’ in IND vs ENG Test series

Bendon McCullum keen to face best team in the upcoming India vs England Test series

England coach Brendon McCullum on Wednesday expressed his excitement at the upcoming IND vs ENG Test series, claiming it will be an opportunity for the English team to take on the ‘best team in their own conditions.’

England will tour India in January next year for a 5-match Test series. IND vs ENG will begin on January 25, 2024, with the first Test at Hyderabad. The series will end on March 11 with the fifth and final Test at Dharamsala.

McCullum, who is in the country to attend Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Innovation Lab’s Leader’s Meet: India, spoke to news agency ANI about a host of topics ranging from Rohit Sharma’s captaincy to England’s upcoming India tour.

He was asked about what he was expecting from England’s tour of India in 2024. “Looking forward to duelling with both those two (Rohit and Virat) and all the other guys come the Indian tour in January, February, March. It is going to be a tour which will be very tough, but a tour that we are really looking forward to. The opportunity to take on the best team in their own conditions in the world and see where we are at as a side,” McCullum told ANI.

McCullum also heaped praises on Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, saying he likes Rohit for his ‘bold’ captaincy.

“Yeah. I like his captaincy (Rohit Sharma’s captaincy). I think his captaincy is bold. He takes risks and he takes the game on. And when you add the talent base of India to these kinds of tactics, then he can achieve very good things. He has been a great leader for not just India but for Mumbai Indians over the years as well,” McCullum said.
