Brandon King’s brisk innings suffers unfortunate end

Brandon King and Johnson Charles, the West Indies openers, got off to a promising start as they attempted to establish the momentum on a track that was favorable to batting. But in the fourth over of the West Indies innings, there was an unfortunate incident. King seemed to pull a muscle that caused him a lot of pain while driving the ball.

Right away, the physiotherapist attended to him on the field and determined that the problem appeared to be in his groin. King was unable to continue and was retired hurt.

Is T20 WC over for Brandon King?

King was in fine form as he raced to 23 runs off 13 balls and hit a number of powerful shots before leaving the field. It is unlikely that he will play again in the current match against England after retiring early due to a suspected groin injury. It remains to be seen if he is able to play a part in the rest of the games of the T20 World Cup.
