BPH beat LNS, The Hundred: Moeen Ali, Benjamin guide Birmingham Phoenix to 3 wkts victory- A brilliant batting display from skipper Moeen Ali coupled with Chris Benjamin’s resilience has helped Birmingham Phoenix defeat London Spirits by 3 wickets. Mohammad Amir and Blake Cullen took a couple of wickets each but couldn’t prevent the run-chase.
“I wanted to take the team over the line. Very excited when I got the call-up last week, it was incredible to get an opportunity and then to get a chance and take the team over the line was incredible. I just wanted to play myself in and then take on the bowler. ‘Keep dreaming, keep working hard’, is my message to the youngsters,” Chris Benjamin said post-match.
Earlier, a sensational batting display from Zak Crawley has guided London Spirit to 144/6 in their allotted 20 overs. For Birmingham Phoenix, Adam Milne, Tom Helm, and Benny Howell took a couple of wickets each.

The opening fixture between Oval Invincibles and Manchester Originals flagged off the men’s 100-ball tournament yesterday, a day after the women’s tournament kicked off. It was a balanced game as no one really knows how to approach this new format and more things are likely to unravel as the tournament will proceed.
Back to the game, Birmingham Phoenix has Liam Livingstone, Chris Woakes, and Moeen Ali in their ranks who were in excellent form in the recently concluded ENG vs PAK Series and will be responsible for producing match-winning performances for their side. London Spirits, on the opposite, have quality all-rounders such as Mohammad Nabi and Ravi Bopara, and Mohammad Amir and Mark Wood as their frontline pacers. The batting heavily relies on skipper Eoin Morgan, Joe Denly, and D Lawrence.
Moreover, it will be interesting to watch who makes a winning start to the campaign. Will it be Moeen Ali’s side or Eoin Morgan-led side? The match will start at 11:00 PM IST and will live stream on the FanCode app for Indian audiences.
