‘Bohot naam…’ Jurel’s heart-warming post after Test call-up breaks internet

In an interview after he received his maiden Test call-up, Jurel revealed the sacrifices his parents made that led to getting to the highest stage.

Dhruv Jurel was on cloud nine after being selected for the IND vs ENG Test series. A maiden Test call-up at just 22 was all the wicketkeeper batter could dream of. However, dreaming is easy, and to really achieve them is difficult. Jurel’s journey from not being able to afford a bat to playing alongside legends like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

To achieve his dream, it wasn’t just the sacrifices Dhruv Jurel made but also the hardships his parents had to go through.

The wicketkeeper batter had earlier revealed he wanted to leave his house at 14 after his parents failed to get him a cricket bat. Watching her son heartbroken, his mother made the ultimate sacrifice for her son. The 22-year-old revealed that his mother sold her gold chain to help him buy a cricket bat.

That was the start of the dream for Jurel, who hasn’t looked back since.

Posting an image of him Facetiming with his parents, Dhruv Jurel wrote the caption on his X (formerly Twitter) account:

“Thank you will be an understatement. For all the sacrifices my mother and father have made, so that their boy could hold a bat and just play cricket. 

I promise this is just the start. Mummy, papa, aap dono se zamaana hai. Aur abhi bohot naam kamaana hai!”
