Blunder averted! KL Rahul decides to walk after seemingly edging Boland’s delivery, saved by no-ball

KL Rahul would have walked back without taking a review in IND vs AUS 2nd Test but was saved thanks to the umpire signalling a no-ball

India cricket team opener KL Rahul survived an early scare after his dismissal off Scott Boland’s very first delivery was overturned due to a no-ball in IND vs AUS 2nd Test. The call from the umpire came as a relief for both Rahul and the Indian team as the former had already decided to walk back before the umpire raised his hand. Incidentally, the reading on snicko showed that there was no edge off his bat. Had the umpire not given a no-ball, Rahul would have chosen to walk back simply and decide against taking a review.

Lucky KL Rahul survives Scott Boland scare

A magical delivery from Scott Boland in his very first delivery saw KL Rahul seemingly edge the ball to the keeper. While he decided to walk, he was stopped short by the umpire’s no-ball decision. Replays of the delivery later showed that the snicko recorded no edge off Rahul’s blade or gloves.

KL Rahul survived another scare in the same over after he was dropped by Usman Khawaja at the slips. Two deliveries later, he managed to open his account after fending off 21 deliveries. India decided to stick with KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal as openers for IND vs AUS 2nd Test after the duo struck a chord and aced their roles in the 1st Test in Perth.

Perhaps, KL Rahul decided to not review the decision and chose to keep walking in IND vs AUS 2nd Test, keeping in mind the DRS howler in the 1st Test at Perth. However, call it a divine intervention or else, the umpire saved the day for both Rahul and India. India have won the toss and are batting first in Pink Ball Test in Adelaide.
