Sri Lanka cricket team pacer Matheesha Pathirana has been ruled out of the upcoming ODI series against India. The young fiery pacer, who emerged as SL’s top wicket-taker in the T20I series, is forced to sit out owing to injury. The SLC has named Mohamed Shiraz as Pathirana’s replacement in the 50-over format squad.
Pathirana to miss IND vs SL ODI series
Shiraz, who is yet to make his international debut, has been named as the injury cover for Pathirana. The three-match ODI series will commence from August 2. After having been whitewashed in the T20I series at the hands of skipper Suryakumar Yadav and co. Sri Lanka will aim to make a comeback in the 50-over format.
Earlier, Pathirana had hoped to come out victorious against India in the T20I series, claiming that it would have been a confidence booster for Sri Lanka. The side failed in the big stages, putting up miserable performances in the ODI World Cup and the T20 World Cup. The loss to India in the T20Is is a fresh wound inflicted on a team that is trying to get back on track.
