In a big blow for Mumbai Indians, spinner Allah Ghazanfar has been ruled out of ICC Champions Trophy and IPL 1025. The 18-year-old is set to be out of action for at least 4 months owing to a back injury. The Afghan spinner was bagged by the five-time champions for Rs 4.80 crore in the mega auction. Now, MI will have to find another replacement for the overseas star.
Ghazanfar blow for MI in IPL 2025
Ghazanfar has been ruled out because of a fracture in the L4 vertebra . The Afghanistan Cricket Board informed that the spinner will be sidelined for a minimum of four months during which he will receive treatment. Allah had a fantastic start to his ODI career and became the fifth youngest player to bag a five-wicket haul in ODIs.

Ghazanfar has relatively lesser experience of playing in T20s. In 19 T20s played so far, he has managed to take 30 wickets. The spinner is yet to make his T20I debut for Afghanistan. In ILT20, he played three matches for MI Emirates. He managed to pick up only one wicket in the tournament.
Allah was supposed to play alongside Mitchell Santner in IPL 2025. However, now MI will be forced to find a last-minute replacement for the Afghan spinner. Meanwhile, Bumrah is likely to be fit in time for IPL 2025.
