India Women’s team have blazed their way into the finals of the Asian Games. The Women in Blue beat Bangladesh in the semi-finals of the Continental Games and will now await either Pakistan or Sri Lanka in the summit clash on Monday. India beat Bangladesh by eight wickets, as they put on a dominating display with bat and ball.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Bangladesh simply were stunned by a brilliant bowling display by Pooja Vastrakar, who picked up four wickets and helped India bundle out Bangladesh for just 51 runs. In reply, India lost just two wickets, as Jemimah Rodrigues finished the chase inside 10 overs. Smriti Mandhana led the side in the absence of Harmanpreet Kaur, as the skipper was serving 2 a match ban by ICC.
However, Kaur is set to return for the final clash. Her presence will be a massive boost for India, who aim to finally clinch one major trophy after coming agonizingly close to beating Australia in the CWG 2022 games last year.
