Biggest Margin Win ODI: IND vs SL 3rd ODI- Rohit Sharma & Co have created a new World Record with a huge 317-run victory over SriLanka in Thiruvananthapuram. The 317-run margin of victory is now the biggest in ODI history. NewZealand held the previous record with a 290-run win over Ireland back in 2008. Biggest Margin Win ODI:

Before creating the world record against Sri Lanka, Team Indi’s two major wins came against Bermuda and Hong Kong. India had beaten Bermuda by 257 runs at Port of Spain in 2007. Another record win of 256 runs came against Hong Kong in Karachi back in 2008. Her’s the list of teams and the biggest margin of victory in ODI.

  • New Zealand beat Ireland by 290 runs at Aberdeen-2008
  • Australia beat Afghanistan by 275 runs at Perth-2015
  • South Africa beat Zimbabwe by 272 runs at Benoni-2010
  • South Africa beat Sri Lanka by 258 runs at Paarl-2012

India vs Sri Lanka 3rd ODI match highlights

The final ODI match was a dead rubber for the men in blue having won the first two matches in Guwahati and Kolkata. Team India were greeted to an empty stands at Greenfield after fans did not turn up in large numbers. Skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first. Rohit and his opening partner Shubman Gill posted 95 runs on the bard for the opening wicket. Post skippers dismissal, Virat Kohli took center stage and built a match winning partnership with Gill.

The youngster (Gill) brought up his second century of the ODI career which puts him in contention for a place in World Cup squad.  Gill’s innings eventually ended at 116 runs. Kohli notched up 76th century of his career and went onto score unbeaten 166 runs in just 110 balls. His innings was laced with 13 fours and 8 sixes. Kasun Rajitha and Lahiru Kumara picked up 2 wickets a piece for Sri Lanka but were expensive leaking runs over 8 runs per over.

Sri Lanka had a huge total to chase but Indian bowlers never let them of the backfoot  as they ran through the batting lineup.  Mohammed Siraj was the star bowler for team India picking up four wickets. He even inflicted a run out. Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav picked up 2 wickets  apiece.
