The much-awaited Big Cricket League (BCL) 2024 is finally coming to a conclusion as Irfan Pathan-led Mumbai Marines successfully chased down a target of 211 set by Suresh Raina’s Southern Spartans at Lalbhai Contractor Stadium in Surat, Gujarat. The highlight of the chase was Manan Sharma’s explosive 82* off 40 balls, featuring seven fours and five sixes. His performance turned the tide decisively towards the Marines. Jesal Karia also played an important role, contributing a rapid 75 off 39 balls, laying the foundation for the chase. Irfan Pathan remained unbeaten on 18, guiding his team to the finish line with composure alongside Manan’s fireworks.

Earlier, Suresh Raina’s Southern Spartans set a challenging total of 210/6 in 20 overs. Phil Mustard led the charge with a blistering 78 off 39 balls, supported by captain Suresh Raina’s quickfire 51 off 26 deliveries. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, the Spartans maintained an aggressive run rate, with key contributions from Faiz Fazal (30 off 19) and Abhimanyu Mithun (25 off 22). The Marines’ bowlers showed glances of control with Shivam Kumar and Manpreet Gony picking up two wickets each. Now, Irfan Pathan’s Marines have a challenge to score 211 runs in 20 overs.

The BCL 2024 began its exciting journey on December 12, featuring 18 matches among six teams: MP Tigers, Mumbai Marines, Northern Challengers, Rajasthan Regals, Southern Spartans, and UP Brij Stars. The competition followed a round-robin format, progressing through to the semi-finals and culminating in this grand finale.
