The Sunrisers Hyderabad are already among the top contenders for the IPL 2024 trophy. But their chances to lift the title have become even better now that their ace pacer, Fazalhaq Farooqi, is returning to the squad after missing the first half of the season. Earlier in the season, they had taken a massive hit when Wanindu Hasaranga was ruled out. Luckily for them, as one of their star foreign players was ruled out, another joined them before the playoffs.
Why Fazalhaq Farooqi wasn’t available earlier
Farooqi was retained by SRH ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, but doubts have risen over his participation in the league after the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) refused to give him a No Objection Certificate (NOC) after he expressed the desire to not accept a central contract from the board.
The ACB decided to grant him NOCs for the next two years but took the decision back after he decided to take a u-turn and expressed his desire to play for Afghanistan once again. Now, Fazalhaq Farooqi will join the Sunrisers Hyderabad in their bid to claim their second IPL title.
