In 2013, the Indian cricket fraternity was rocked by yet another spot-fixing scandal when the Delhi Police arrested three cricketers, Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila, and Ankeet Chavan, on charges of spot-fixing. Controversies involving Rajasthan Royals in IPL

Betting scandal

In 2013, Rajasthan Royals co-owner Raj Kundra faced allegations of illegal betting on IPL matches. The Delhi Police claimed that Kundra had confessed to placing bets on his own team through a bookie who was his friend. This controversy led to further scrutiny of the team’s management and ownership.

Ownership controversy

The Rajasthan Royals became embroiled in controversy due to inappropriate and fictitious bids during the team’s ownership acquisition. Shareholders Ranjit Barthakur and Fraser Castellino were the only two known owners at the time, violating BCCI norms. An out-of-court settlement followed to resolve the issue.

Match fixing scandal

In 2013, the Delhi Police arrested three cricketers from the Rajasthan Royals, Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila, and Ankeet Chavan—on charges of alleged spot-fixing during the IPL season. Additionally, Mumbai Police arrested Vindu Dara Singh, Priyank Sepany (a diamond dealer) for alleged betting.
