Foreign players have always played a crucial role in the IPL. Many times in the past, overseas stars have taken centre stage and performed exceptionally well for their respective franchises. Not long ago, we saw how Travis Head’s destructive batting helped Sunrisers Hyderabad, and it was Pat Cummins’ leadership that guided the Hyderabad franchise to the finals.
In the past, legendary players like Shane Warne, Adam Gilchrist, and Stephen Fleming have also done an incredible job for their respective teams. Whether it’s a mini or mega auction, foreign players have always attracted interest from franchises, sometimes fetching unbelievable amounts. The best example is Mitchell Starc, who received a staggering INR 24.75 crore at the 2023 mini-auction.
Now, with IPL 2025 coming and every team set with their players, we are once again set to witness foreign stars delivering match-winning performances for their respective teams. It is important to note that each team can have a maximum of four overseas players in the playing XI to maintain a proper balance.
But if we were to create an all-overseas XI for IPL 2025, how would the team look? Take a look at 11 foreign players who could make a big impact in the tournament, justifying their place in this best overseas XI for IPL 2025.

The players mentioned in this list are in incredible form for their national teams and have also performed well in the IPL in the past.
Travis Head, who had a sensational last season for SRH with the bat, will once again open the innings. He will be joined by England’s white-ball captain, Jos Buttler, who is set to play for Gujarat Titans. Before that, Buttler had outstanding outings with Rajasthan Royals in previous IPL seasons, often single-handedly turning games around when his team was under pressure.
Phil Salt is another important name in this XI.
Looking at the all-rounders, Andre Russell remains a key player for KKR, consistently delivering champion-like performances with both bat and ball. He will be supported by Glenn Maxwell, who may not be in peak form but has shown glimpses of brilliance in recent BBL outings, giving PBKS a boost. That is why he is included as a main all-rounder. Sam Curran also features in the list.
The four bowlers completing this XI are Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Mitchell Starc, and Jofra Archer, who is making a comeback. With such firepower, this overseas XI looks extremely strong.
