Ravichandran Ashwin is a happy man. He scalped his 35th Test fifer to match Anil Kumble. And after his exploits India has been tasked to chase just 192 runs to win the game and secure the series. Ashwin now aims to win the Test match. He has claimed that winning a Test match is the best feeling as a cricketer and he intends to do the same on Day 4 of the IND vs ENG Ranchi Test.
England were on top heading into Day 3 of the game. But things took a sharp turn. Dhruv Jurel’s valiant 90 run knock reduced the deficit. Then came Ashwin’s prowess. He struck early thrice to destroy England’s top order. And then he later came back to pick 2 wickets and complete his fifer.
“My knee has been acting up, takes some time to warm up. Didn’t want to give extra runs because we’re chasing last. [Kudeep performance] Phenomenal character, Kuldeep bowled brilliantly. He was working on his run-up, changing pace and trajectory. [Batting] His defence was gun, showed composure,” said Ashwin after the Day 3
Ashwin is now 37 years old. And thus he has claimed that it takes in around 10-12 deliveries to warm up. He lauded Kuldeep Yadav’s four-fer. Ashwin also lavished big praises on Jurel for his magnificent knock.
“Even better from Dhruv, great composure in his second game. Was a huge lift to bat through to lunch. We would have taken that [46-run deficit] with both hands last night. Winning a Test is the best feeling as a cricketer, I would like to have that tomorrow,” Ashwin concluded.
