Bengaluru man loses ₹3 lakh in RCB vs CSK ticket scam, police issues warning

Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL 2024 playoff hopes is hanging by thread and dependent on this game

A 28-year-old fan from Bengaluru fell victim to a scam, losing ₹3 lakh while attempting to purchase tickets for the upcoming RCB vs CSK IPL 2024 game at Chinnaswamy Stadium. With the demand soaring for this crucial match, scammers are preying on cricket enthusiasts.

The victim encountered an Instagram post from a handle named ‘ipl_2024_tickets_24’, claiming ticket availability. The person behind the handle, introducing himself as Padma Sinha Vijay Kumar, posed as an official IPL ticket seller. He provided his Aadhar card and mobile number for verification, offering tickets at ₹2,300 each.

Fans duped ahead for RCB vs CSK tickets

Despite sending ₹7,900 for three tickets, the victim didn’t receive the e-tickets. The fraudster cited technical issues and requested an additional ₹67,000 for resolution. Promising refunds alongside the tickets, the victim continued to send money until the scammer demanded more. Eventually, a total of ₹3 lakh was swindled.

Bengaluru police have filed a case under IPC section 420, and investigations are underway. Meanwhile, authorities have cautioned cricket fans to only purchase tickets through official channels to avoid falling prey to scams.

What happens if RCB vs CSK IPL 2024 game is washed out

A large threat of showers looms over as Royal Challengers Bengaluru take on Chennai Super Kings in a crucial IPL 2024 game. In case rain intervenes during the IPL match, RCB faces the threat of playoff elimination. Presently, CSK holds the third position with 14 points, while RCB trails at 12. A washout would grant each team a point, favouring CSK’s playoff aspirations. Even if CSK falls to RCB, a narrow defeat ensures their playoff qualification.

RCB’s NRR stands at +0.387, while CSK boasts +0.528, making RCB’s victory insufficient to significantly alter the standings. Should CSK suffer a loss, they must minimize the margin to preserve their advantage. For example, if RCB sets a target of 200, CSK must chase down at least 182. A victory assures CSK of a playoff berth, with a potential climb to the top 2 if RR loses and SRH secures one game. Thus, each run and wicket becomes crucial in shaping the destiny of these teams as they vie for IPL glory
