BCCI’s Jay Shah confirms new India head coach will join team for Sri Lanka series

Rahul Dravid's successor as India's head coach is likely to be Gautam Gambhir or WV Raman and is to be made official soon

BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced that the new India cricket team head coach will join the side for the series against Sri Lanka. Gautam Gambhir and WV Raman are the frontrunners for the role, having successfully impressed the CAC with their presentations on the road map for the side in the future. Shah told media persons after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup that the official announcement on coach and the North Zone selector will be made shortly.

When will new India head coach announcement be made?

Both coach and selector appointment will be made shortly. CAC has interviewed and shortlisted two names and after reaching Mumbai whatever they have decided we will go by that. V.V.S. Laxman is going to Zimbabwe but new coach will join from Sri Lanka series,” Shah told select media, referring to the Zimbabwe tour beginning July 6.

Gautam Gambhir interest in role

Gautam Gambhir, who played a crucial role in India’s 2011 World Cup win, has been vocal about his desire to coach the national team. He has expressed that it would be an honour to serve in such a capacity. Despite the rumours and endorsements, Gambhir has remained reserved about the possibility of replacing Dravid.
