World Cup 2023: BCCI SGM Meeting: With the World Cup 2023 fast approaching, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has arranged a special General Meeting. The meet will be held in Ahmedabad on the sidelines of the IPL 2023 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat. The 12 World Cup venues will be up for discussion, alongside ratification of the prevention of sexual harassment policy. The latter comes after NHRC’s complaint regarding the same. As per Sportstar, BCCI have scheduled a special general meeting of the top brass in Ahmedabad. BCCI President Roger Binny, secretary Jay Shah will all be in attendance at the Narendra Modi Stadium for the IPL 2023 final. The meeting has a five-point agenda, with the Indian cricket board making preparations for the upcoming 50-over World Cup.

BCCI SGM: Five-point agenda

  1. Formation of Infrastructure development and subsidy committee.
  2. Guidelines for appointments of Physiotherapists and Trainers in state teams.
  3. Formation of Working Group for ICC World Cup 2023.
  4. Formation of committee of Women’s Premier League.
  5. Ratification of Prevention of Sexual Harassment Policy.

The 2023 World Cup is only 4 months away and the ICC is yet to release a schedule for the same. The 10-team tournament will be held across 12 venues, with BCCI set to finalise on a working group during the SGM meeting. Work on the WPL has also begun, with the BCCI keen to move it to a Diwali timeline.

The Indian cricket board will also review their POSH policy during the meeting. The BCCI recently came under fire and were sent a notice by the NHRC. The NHRC wrote to the Sports Ministry regarding the non-compliance of provisions under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) law. BCCI are keen to rectificy the same during the SGM meeting on May 27.
