BCCI releases Avesh Khan as India pacer to focus on Ranji Trophy domination

Avesh had replaced Prasidh Krishna in the side after his lackluster performance against South Africa last month.

Mohammed Shami’s replacement for the IND vs ENG Test series, Avesh Khan, has been released from the squad. The fast bowler had been named in the squad for the first two Tests of the series but has now been sent back to play for his side in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024.

Fast bowler Avesh Khan has been released to play for his Ranji trophy team, Madhya Pradesh for their next Ranji Trophy fixture” the BCCI posted on X after England won the toss in the IND vs ENG 1st Test.

Avesh was part of the India team for the ODI series in South Africa and did well for the India A team as well. But he failed to get his maiden Test call-up as Prasidh Krishna got the nod ahead of him.

The fast bowler must have felt elated to be finally named in the squad, only to be released before the start of the first Test. Now, Avesh Khan will play for his Ranji Trophy side, Madhya Pradesh, who have yet to lose a match in the ongoing 2024 season.
