The BCCI has provided a big update on Mohammed Shami after his Achilles tendon surgery. The speedster had undergone the surgery in London just a couple of days ago and had posted about it on his social media.
The BCCI provided a squad update ahead of the Dharamsala Test between India and England on March 7. While the major updates involved KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, and Washington Sundar, Shami was also mentioned.
“Mohd. Shami successfully underwent a surgery on 26th February, 2024 for his right heel problem. He is recovering well and will soon head to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to commence his rehabilitation process,” their update read.
Before undergoing surgery, it was revealed that the pacer was injured during India’s Final run at the ODI World Cup 2023. Such was the severity of the injury that Mohammed Shami had to take regular injections to withstand that pain.
Instead of resting and missing out on lifting the prestigious trophy, Shami decided to put everything on the line that may have exacerbated his injury and therefore can rule him out of the IPL 2024 and the T20 World Cup 2024.
