As the deadlock between India and Pakistan over ICC Champions Trophy 2025 continues, BCCI and PCB officials are reportedly set to hold discussions on Thursday

Officials of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are reportedly set to hold discussion on Champions Trophy 2025 on Thursday. India has refused to travel to the neighbouring country for the marquee event which will be held between February-March 2025. Following India’s decision, uncertainty looms over Pakistan hosting the tournament entirely.

Earlier, reports had stated that the ICC is trying to convince Pakistan to adopt a hybrid model for Champions Trophy 2025. India last traveled to Pakistan in 2008 for Asia Cup following which geopolitical tensions between the two nations forced the latter to boycott travelling to Pakistan for any tournament. Since then, the two sides have only met at ICC events and have not had any bilateral series against each other so far.

It is understood that the Indian government has denied permission to the team. While Pakistan has remained adamant over retaining the complete hosting right, the matter seems to be slipping out of their hands. Reports have claimed that the ICC could be mulling India or South Africa as the hosts if Pakistan do not consider the hybrid model.

Dragging India to court for refusing to travel to Pakistan for Champions Trophy 2025 was one of the threats issued by Pakistan. The other threats include withdrawing from the tournament if a hybrid model is adopted, boycotting future ICC events where India will be participating in and writing a letter to the ICC seeking clarity on why India refused to travel to Pakistan.
