BCCI open to moving IPL 2025 auction to UAE, determined to get overseas attraction

IPL 2025 auction venue: BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla affirms BCCI keen to get overseas attraction, likely to host auction in UAE

The IPL Mega Auction 2025 is slated to take place later this year. But the venue of the mega auction is yet to be finalised. Interestingly, the BCCI is keen in keeping their options open to host the auction both away and overseas. The last auction took place in Dubai and this time United Arab Emirates (UAE) and South Africa are potential venues for the auction.

Speaking in the press conference of the, BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla has the option of hosting the overseas is viable. The BCCI sees this as a great avenue to attract more and more fans across all parts of the globe. However, the option of hosting the auction in India is also under consideration.

Where will IPL 2025 Mega Auction take place?

“We are contemplating with both the options. It may be abroad also. Last time we had in Dubai. And it went very successfully. The whole idea is to take some elements of cricket overseas also. So, overseas cricket fans also get attracted,” Shukla said in a press conference.

Not all editions of the Indian Premier League over the years have been held in India. In fact, UAE and South Africa have hosted the tournaments in past. And with last season’s auction being held in Dubai being a major hit, the same is likely to be expected this time as well.

And with the BCCI keen to attract fans far and wide, hosting the auction overseas, seems like the best idea. In fact, Shukla claimed that if the tournament can’t be hosted overseas, hosting the auction can help connecting with the fans.

“And they associate themselves with the cricket. So, that’s the basic idea. If we can’t have matches there, at least we should organise such events there. Keeping that in mind, all the options are open,” Shukla added.
