Know the new selectors:

  • Chetan Sharma: The incumbent chairman of the selection committee has two years left in his tenure. He returns despite unsatisfactory performances. It should be noted that CAC’s Ashok Malhotra enjoys a very good rapport with Chetan and the two will be eager to get India back on the track for World Cup 2023.
  • Shiv Sundar Das: The former India opener from Odisha was the frontrunner last season. He finally makes it to the selection committee from East Zone.
  • Subroto Banerjee: The former Bengal and Bihar all-rounder has played 1 Test and 6 ODIs for India in the early 1990s. He gets in from the central zone.
  • Salil Ankola: The former Mumbai and India pacer tried his luck in the Bollywood and even appeared in several movies and TV serials. But he is now in the selection committee.
  • Sridharan Sharath: The chairman of the junior selection committee gets a promotion to the senior selection committee. He was asked by the BCCI to apply for the role. BCCI believes he can bridge the gap between senior and juniors. He has been successful with India U19 team winning the World Cup.
