The upcoming BCCI Elections will be a frenetic affair and the shocks continue to come with Lalitendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra nominated by the Universities. The former Odisha cricketer is a BJP MLA and adds to the star cast of the electoral roll.
It is unclear whether Mohapatra will be in contention for an official post, but his inclusion suddenly adds more competition. The Supreme Court’s decision to allow MLA and MPs to contest in BCCI and state Elections. He will attend the AGM in Mumbai on October 18.
As per Cricbuzz, Mohapatra enters the race with an added reputation. While soft-spoken, the former Odisha cricketer has been largely linked with his state’s rise in domestic cricket. Mohapatra has done a lot of work in the previous years.

He remains with the State’s star players of that time – Debasis Mohanty, Shiv Sundar Das and Sanjay Raul among others. Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) secretary Sanjay Behera’s name was being discussed for BCCI joint secretary but he is unlikely to contest for the post and instead continue as OCA secretary.

A total of 37 of the 38 representatives have been nominated so far by the State Associations. Only eight posts will be decided at the AGM. Among those include five office bearers and two in the IPL Governing Council and one in the Apex Council. Col. Sanjai Verma has been made the representative of Services.
“The following Addendum to Draft Electoral Roll lists the additional names of the Representative received from the Full Members of the BCCI under Rule 3(a)(ii)(F) and Rule 3(a)(ii)(G) through communication sent by them,” said BCCI electoral officer AK Joti as per Cricbuzz.
The addendum added, “Objection on the entries in the Draft Electoral Roll may be submitted via e-mail to electoral.officer@bcci.tv from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on 6 October 2022 and 7 October 2022. The Final Electoral Roll shall be compiled by the Electoral Officer after taking into consideration Objection made and Information received if any.”

Earlier, a report by leading Hindi news daily Dainik Jagran, a meeting of top BCCI officials took place on Thursday. And it was decided among the officials that Ganguly will not contest the elections.
The meeting according to the report was attended by Ganguly himself along with Jay Shah, Vice President Rajiv Shukla, Treasurer Arun Dhumal & former BCCI President N. Srinivasan. Among the members nominated, Roger Binny is the topmost surprise who replaces Santosh Menon. The World Cup-winning all-rounder is the president of the KSCA and rumours suggest that he might land one of the available positions in the BCCI Office.
