That the BCCI is one of the most influential cricket boards in the world is common knowledge. However, the BCCI also showed that it cares and will go out of their own way to help their own people. When the Indian contingent were stuck in Barbados due to hurricane, it was not only the players that were left stranded. BCCI showed its big heart by arranging for the evacuation of about 22 sports journalists along with the players.
BCCI arranges safe return
The Hurricane Beryl has halted the return of the Indian contingent from Barbados. After winning the T20 World Cup final, the players are yet to leave Barbados because of the Hurricane.

However, along with the cricketers, some Indian sports journalists were also stranded. Their tickets were also cancelled because of Hurricane Beryl. With no chance of new tickets before July 7, the journalists were in dire straits.
Jay Shah to the rescue
According to a journalist who took to X to lay their bare their plight, when Jay Shah found out about the situation, he promised to arrange for the safe return of the scribes. Jay Shah then arranged tickets for the journalists in the same Air India Cricket 24 World Champion flight which will bring the Indian cricketers home.
It just goes to show that BCCI’s commitment does not only limit them to cricketers’ wellbeing but also extends to the journalists as well.
