BCCI breaks silence on terror threat to T20 World Cup, puts onus on USA, Caribbean islands

BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla opened up on the alleged terror threat from North Pakistan to the T20 World Cup 2024

BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shulka clarified the board’s stance on the alleged terror threat to T20 World Cup 2024. The marquee event be co-hosted by USA and the Caribbean islands and is scheduled to commence from June 2.

As far as threats are concerned, the security agencies of the countries where the World Cup is held are responsible for security. America and West Indies. We will talk to the security agencies. We will also take whatever steps are necessary for the safety of the players and spectators,” Rajeev Shukla said.

Terror threat to T20 WC?

Caribbean media outlets reported intelligence suggesting “Pro-Islamic State (IS) media sources” inciting violence against sporting events. These reports included video messages from the Afghanistan-Pakistan branch, ISKhorasan (IS-K), promoting attacks and urging followers to join the fight in their home countries.

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and regional security agencies are reportedly working together to address the threat. Authorities in Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, and other host countries are actively monitoring the situation.
