Due to an ankle injury, star all-rounder Hardik Pandya will not be participating in the remainder of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. As a result, India have chosen the relatively inexperienced yet promising fast bowler Prasidh Krishna as his replacement for the remaining matches of the tournament.
Hardik Pandya suffered a left ankle injury while bowling during India’s World Cup match against Bangladesh in Pune last month. It has been confirmed that the 30-year-old has not recuperated in time to participate further in the tournament.

Prasidh Krishna replaces injured Hardik Pandya in India’s World Cup squad
The tournament’s Event Technical Committee approved Prasidh Krishna’s inclusion in the squad on Saturday. He has previously represented India in white-ball cricket, with 19 appearances to his name, and his most recent international outing was just before the World Cup in a white-ball series against Australia.
Although Prasidh Krishna has demonstrated promise in the past with 33 international wickets, he will be in competition with experienced fast bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj for a spot in India’s pace attack.
With the approval from the Event Technical Committee on Saturday, India’s replacement player, Prasidh Krishna, has become eligible for selection in the crucial World Cup match against South Africa scheduled for Sunday in Kolkata.
India and South Africa currently hold the top two positions in the World Cup league standings. India has secured a spot in the semifinals. Meanwhile, a win for South Africa would not only secure their semifinal berth but also propel them to the number one position on the table, surpassing India.
