BCCI announces IND vs NZ fixtures, Harmanpreet Kaur’s side to get practice before 2025 ODI World Cup

Following the ongoing ICC Women's T20 World Cup, the Indian team will host New Zealand for a 3-match ODI series.

While Team India faced a crushing defeat against Australia last night, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has followed it up with a new bilateral series announcement. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side will be hosting the New Zealand women’s team right after the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. A bunch of three ODI have been scheduled, with all getting hosted at the big Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The opening ODI will be played on 24th October (Thursday), followed by 27th October (Sunday) and 29th October (Tuesday).

Match practice before ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025

In a few months’ time from now, India will host the biggest tournament in cricket, i.e., the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup. And now with the new fixtures announcement, these three ODIs will act as a great opportunity for match practice for Harmanpreet Kaur and her women. As far as the Women’s T20 World Cup is considered, India’s qualifying chances for the semis are hung by a thread. If Pakistan beats New Zealand tonight, then only the Women in Blue will be flying their ticket to the second semi-final.

As far as the New Zealand women’s team is concerned, the upcoming three ODIs will mean a world of importance for them as they are yet to qualify for the next edition (2025) of the ODI World Cup. As of now, only India (hosts), Australia, South Africa and England are qualified for the mega ICC event. It is interesting to note that both the men’s and women’s sides of India and New Zealand will be clashing against each other at the same time. The men’s side have their 3-match Tests, from Oct 16 to Nov 5.
