BCCI AGM on September 29 to proceed without Jay Shah replacement discussion

Jay Shah will leave his BCCI position of secretary in November after 5 years.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will hold the 93rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 29. The BCCI sent notices to each state association earlier today (September 5) to meet at the Four Seasons Hotel in Bengaluru and discuss various topics.

SGM to Jay Shah’s replacement

According to Cricbuzz, the two-page long notice has 18 agenda points. However, nothing regarding the election of Jay Shah’s replacement as the BCCI Secretary was mentioned. Shah has been elected as the next ICC Chairman and assumed the role on December 1. Some names have been floating around, but right now nothing is certain. A Special General Meeting (SGM) will be held to find Jay’s successor before he leaves in November.

BCCI’s representative to ICC

As was the case in the last AGM, a BCCI representative to the ICC could be appointed. Until now, there has been no such role, and Jay Shah has often played the role. The fact that the AGM is taking place in BCCI President Roger Binny’s hometown could mean that he could take over that role. Interestingly, the AGM will also coincide with the inauguration of the High Performance Centre in Bengaluru.
