It turned out to be a poor day for Pakistani cricketers at the BBL 2024-25 drafts, as only one of their players — Usama Mir was picked by one of the team’s on Sunday. The bowler was picked by Melbourne Stars, while, on the other hand, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah and Shadab Khan were overlooked. Rauf, who played for the Stars last time around, wasn’t on the team’s radar for the next season.
Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah go Unpicked
Haris, in fact, first came to limelight after stellar performances in the BBL, and was then drafted into the Pakistani side. Overall, in 22 innings, he has managed to pick 36 wickets, at an economy of 7.75, and an average of 16.33. In BBL 13, he had picked up six wickets in four matches.
Meanwhile, Naseem Shah was never a part of the BBL. But Shadab Khan had played 12 matches in the Australian T20 league, and scored 78 runs. He also picked up 14 wickets in this duration.
Bangladeshi Rishad Hossain Creates History
On the other hand, Bangladeshi Rishad Hossain became only the second from the country to be a part of the BBL, after Shakib al Hasan. The leg-spinner churned out decent performances in the T20 World Cup, and picked up 14 wickets in seven matches. He was picked up by Hobart Hurricanes.
