Melbourne Renegades have dropped Afghanistan’s star spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman for the Big Bash League (BBL) 2024 clash against Melbourne Stars, scheduled on Tuesday, January 2.
The decision came after the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) sanctioned three players including Mujeeb, for their desire to opt out of the central contract and request a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to participate in T20 leagues around the world.
Under the sanctions, Mujeeb Ur Rahman along with Fazalhaq Farooqi and Naveen ul Haq, have been denied the NOC for overseas T20 leagues participation for next two years.
The BBL franchise, on Monday, confirmed in a statement that the spinner has been removed from the squad.
