BBL 2022-23 schedule: Big Bash League schedule announced: The Big Bash League 2022-23 schedule was released on Thursday by Cricket Australia. Former champions Sydney Thunders will meet Melbourne Stars in the season opener at the Manuka Oval on December 13.  Seventeen venues, which includes three additions will host 61 matches for the BBL 2022-23 season.   • BBL 2022-23 will have 56 league fixtures and five playoff matches
  • Former champions Sydney Thunders will meet Melbourne Stars at Manuka Oval in the Season opener
  • The schedule features minimal overlap with international schedules while all teams will have seven home games after two interrupted seasons.

“The KFC BBL|12 season is setting up to have everything we love about the Big Bash – great players, full stadiums of home fans and the best nights of entertainment anywhere this summer,” general manager of the BBL Alistair Dobson said in a statement.

“This schedule provides the platform for that, with a mix of world class stadiums and regional venues, opportunities for player participation and all the marquee games that our fans love.

17 Venues to host the BBL 2022-23

The season will take place across a 17 different venues, including three new grounds; Lavington Sports Ground in Albury, Cazalys Stadium in Cairns, and North Sydney Oval. The new season will have a string of superstars available for the competition, with South Africa cancelling their ODI series against Australia.

61 matches, 7 home matches for each Team

After two years of Covid-19 break, the BBL season will once again return to normal service as al the eight teams will get seven home matches and seven away matches to stage. The current season will have 56 league matches, with each team playing every other team twice.

Thus there will be 56 matches in total at the League phase; this will be followed by the playoff rounds. There will be five matches in the playoffs. There will a an Eliminator, Qualifier, Knockout, Challenger, followed by the final on February 4.
