The incident took place in the seventh over of Hobart Hurricanes innings. On the last ball of the 7th over, Ben McDermott slammed a full toss delivery of Andrew Tye over deep mid-wicket for six. A young fan in the crowd attempted to catch it but failed to hold on to it and the ball hit him right in the forehead.

The fan immediately lay on the ground and was left bloodied when the camera panned towards his face. “Oh no. He’s got a bit of blood. We need some medic. He didn’t even realise,” the commentator said. The medic team quickly assisted the fan.
BBL 2021: Hobart Hurricanes vs Perth Scorchers:
Coming back to the match, Perth Scorchers registered 53 runs win over Hobart Hurricanes. Opting to bat, Perth Scorchers posted a huge total of 182/5 on the back of Mitchell Marsh’s unbeaten ton and Laurie Evans’ quickfire 40 off 24. Nathan Ellis was the pick of bowlers for Hobart Hurricanes as he returned with 2-33 in his quota of four overs.
In reply, Hobart Hurricanes could only muster 129 runs with 6 balls to spare. The Hurricanes kept losing wickets at regular intervals and didn’t look comfortable in the run chase. Barring D Arcy Short (31) and Ben Mcdermott (41), none of the Hurricanes batters managed to get past the 20-run mark. Tymal Mills with 3-23 was the pick of the bowlers for Scorchers with Ashton Agar and Andrew Tye picked two wickets each.
