The incident took place in the seventh over of Hobart Hurricanes innings. On the last ball of the 7th over, Ben McDermott slammed a full toss delivery of Andrew Tye over deep mid-wicket for six. A young fan in the crowd attempted to catch it but failed to hold on to it and the ball hit him right in the forehead.

The fan immediately lay on the ground and was left bloodied when the camera panned towards his face. “Oh no. He’s got a bit of blood. We need some medic. He didn’t even realise,” the commentator said. The medic team quickly assisted the fan.
