‘Batting with him…’: RCB star hails experienced Dinesh Karthik for acing finisher’s role

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star Dinesh Karthik once again proved why he is the side's best finisher after his cameo against PBKS

Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter Mahipal Lomror is might impressed with Dinesh Karthik’s role as a finisher. A quickfire 10-ball 28 run-knock saw the home side clinch victory in RCB vs PBKS clash in Bengaluru. Lomror, who came into bat as an impact player, finished the game along with Karthik as RCB fetched their first two points of IPL 2024.

‘Dinesh Karthik doing job of finisher really well’: RCB teammate

I think batting with him (Dinesh Karthik) makes things easy for us. He is an experienced guy, with 15-17 years of experience. He has been doing that role for a long time now. He has executed his plans very well. Today when I was batting with him, he was just telling me to stay calm and focus on the next ball and the job in hand. Not to get over-excited or aggressive. That kind of small talk always helps. That’s the experience he brings to the team and he is doing the job of the finisher really well,” Mahipal Lomror says at the post-match press conference.

Virat Kohli set the stage for RCB in the run-chase, smashing his 100th fifty en route to his 77-run knock. This set the stage for Dinesh Karthin and Lomror to finish the game for the side. DK smashed three fours and two sixes while Lomror added two fours and a six to his name.

Speaking after the match, Dinesh Karthik said, “I wasn’t completely in control, but later I felt good. We needed a partnership. Thankfully, Mahipal (Lomror) and myself stitched a crucial stand. Lomror took the pressure off me. Harshal (Patel) is a clever customer. I needed to wait for the right balls to play my shots. Lomror looked calm, told him to stay the way he began his innings.”
