“Batters aren’t capable”: Kumble lambasts Rohit & Gambhir for preparing turners after Mumbai loss

The Indian batters had a horrible show in the IND vs NZ series, failing to complete a 146-run in the third Test.

IND vs NZ: And the inevitable has happened. The wrecking ball of New Zealand just rolled over India to hand over their first-ever whitewash (in a 3-match series) in a Tests at home. If we leave aside Rishabh Pant’s aggressiveness and dominance, the Indian batters had a horrible series, enduring collapse innings after innings.

On the backdrop of the humbling loss at the Wankhede Stadium, former Indian great Anil Kumble lambasted the Indian management. He particularly questioned head coach Gautam Gambhir and skipper Rohit Sharma for preparing rank-turners in the series, while labelling the Indian batters “not capable” against spin.

Gautam Gambhir & Rohit Sharma face serious questions

Despite first asking not to blame the batters, Kumble opined that they don’t have enough capabilities to tackle spin. Hence, he shown anger towards Gambhir and Rohit on preparing rank-turners like they did in Pune and Mumbai.

Don’t blame the batters – you give a rank turner and expect them to chase 150 in 4th innings. The captain and coach should be asked why they gave rank turner when you know your batters aren’t that capable” – Anil Kumble on Jio Cinema.
