Toss update: Baroda have won the toss and opted to field first
Baroda had an underwhelming campaign in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy which saw a change in the leadership role. India all-rounder Krunal Pandya stepped down from the role and experienced batter Kedar Devdhar has been chosen to lead the side. They also suffered a big blow ahead of their opener against Bengal after star all-rounder Hardik Pandya pulled out of the tournament to undergo rehab.
Devdhar, who has played 73 List A games so far and has scored 2,402 runs, will have a tough task to lead side -who hasn’t been in rhythm in the last couple of tournaments. Baroda failed to reach the quarterfinals of the previous Vijay Hazare Trophy edition and managed just 1 win in the SMAT 2021.
In the previous Vijay Hazare edition, Baroda managed to win 4 out of their 5 groups games but were denied a playoff spot by Gujarat who were unbeaten in the group stage. Can the change in captain bring some change in fortune?

Bengal, on the opposite, will be a lot more confident, considering their run in the SMAT 2021. Bengal reached the quarterfinal of the marquee event and unfortunately got knocked out after facing a defeat at the hands of Karnataka in the Super Over.
However, Bengal too will be hoping for a better run this time. They managed just two wins in their previous year’s campaign and finished at the bottom second spot in the group stage.

Kedar Devdhar (c), Vishnu Solanki (wk), Dhruv Patel, Bhanu Pania, Krunal Pandya, Parth Kohli, Atit Sheth, Shashwat Rawat, Kartik Kakade, Lukman Meriwala, Soyeb Sopariya
