Bangladesh cricket team pacer Taskin Ahmed has flagged the lack of ‘better wickets at home’ as one of the main reason for the team’s defeats. After losing the IND vs BAN Test series 0-2, the side has now let the T20I series slip out of their hands as well, with India having taken a 2-0 lead. Taskin echoed skipper Najmul Shanto’s remarks on pitches in Bangladesh that he had made earlier.
Lack of good surfaces reason for Bangladesh’s poor run?
Speaking to reporters after the loss in New Delhi, Taskin Ahmed stressed for the need to have better pitches at home in order to prepare for posting high totals. He admitted that while they players needed to improve their skills, it was imperative for the BCB to intervene in the matter of ‘good wickets’ back at home.
“We have to improve our skills, but we also need to play on better wickets back home. These are the main reasons [for the defeat]. We have informed the board, so I am sure they are thinking about [better pitches]. They gave us hope that they will make things better,” Taskin Ahmed said.

The Bangladesh pacer further lamented over the no-show from the top-order in both Delhi and Gwalior. He remarked that there was not much to do in a T20 game when the top-order flops in such a manner. He pointed out how the IPL and better surfaces in India helped the Men in Blue read the game better while Bangladesh were still lagging behind.
“Most matches in IPL are high-scoring. They know how to chase big targets, and build high scores,” Taskin said. “What [scores like] 130-150 is for us, is 180-200 for them. We need to grow this habit [of scoring big], but I hope we have better home conditions so that we develop the ability to score and chase big targets,” Taskin added.
Taskin Ahmed was the best of the lot among the Bangladesh bowlers in New Delhi, standing out with a spectacular spell of 2/16 in four overs. His fiery deliveries in the first couple of overs troubled the Indian batters. After being benched for the first game, Taskin created an instant impact on his arrival in the 2nd T20I, albeit in a losing cause for the Tigers.
