Bangladesh DISAPPOINTED with HECTIC Travel schedule for Asia Cup 2023

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has expressed their disappointment in the hectic travel that the team has to make for Asia Cup 2023

Just a day after the announcement of the Asia Cup 2023 Schedule, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has expressed that extensive traveling will impact their team in the Asia Cup Tournament. Bangladesh has been clubbed in Group B and will therefore have to travel to Pakistan and Sri Lanka to play their matches.

The Asia Cup 2023 is being held in a hybrid model style where 4 matches are being held in Pakistan while the remaining 9 games are to be held in Sri Lanka. Now the situation is tough for the Bangladesh side which will have to travel to and fro from Sri Lanka to Pakistan and then back to the island nation for the remaining games.

The Bengal Tigers will begin their Asia Cup 2023 campaign against the defending champions Sri Lanka at Kandy on 31st August. Following this they will travel to Pakistan to play their second group stage game against Afghanistan on 3rd September. Once they qualify for the Super 4s, they play their first game in Pakistan.

Following this they will have to travel back to Sri Lanka to play their remaining 2 Super 4 games. If they go on to reach the finals, they will have to play it in Sri Lanka.

Asia Cup 2023 Schedule for Bangladesh, Bengal Tigers FACE Sri Lanka in opening game

“Yes, we have to go to Lahore to play the first match. There are two matches in the first round, one in Sri Lanka and the other one is in Pakistan. We have to go as we can do nothing actually. After the 31st [August] the next match is on 3rd [September]. To make the journey comfortable the Asia Cup authorities [ACC] has decided to travel the teams in chartered flights,” BCB cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus told reporters at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Wednesday.

“We will travel by chartered planes. This is the responsibility of the Asian Cricket Council. Of course, we would like to travel by quality airline, if that is a national airline or a chartered plane definitely that would be good for everyone,” he added.

“If you travel certainly there will be an impact which I feel because when you are travelling by air you will have to go two hours earlier and carry your luggage and preparing all these things is mentally stressful. Pakistan is far away from Sri Lanka. So there is nothing to do, since it is ACC’s decision, everyone is playing like this. We also have to accept it,” he said
