BCB served notice to remove Shakib Al Hasan from Bangladesh team amid murder case investigation

A legal notice demands Shakib Al Hasan's removal from the Bangladesh cricket team due to his involvement in a murder case, urging immediate suspension.

A Supreme Court lawyer, Barrister Sajib Mahmood Alam, has served a legal notice to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), demanding the removal of cricketer Shakib Al Hasan from the national team due to his involvement in a murder case. The notice was sent on behalf of another Supreme Court lawyer, Md Rafinur Rahman.

The notice also urges the BCB to recall Shakib from abroad to facilitate a proper investigation into the murder case.

The legal notice argues that, since Shakib is implicated in a criminal case, ICC rules prohibit him from being part of the national cricket team. It calls for his immediate removal and suspension from all forms of cricket to uphold the integrity of Bangladesh cricket and sports.

Case filed on Saturday

The murder case, accusing Shakib Al Hasan, was filed on August 22 at Adabar Police Station for the killing of garment worker Md Rubel. Other accused include former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, and 156 named individuals, along with 400-500 unidentified persons.

Shakib not in Bangladesh

Barrister Sajib Mahmood Alam informed the Bangladeshi media that Shakib is currently in Pakistan with the national cricket team. He also mentioned that his client has not set a specific deadline for the BCB to bring Shakib back or to remove him from the team, acknowledging that the newly appointed BCB team will need some time to become operational.
