Bangladesh concerned about security over upcoming tour to Pakistan, want security consultant

Bangladesh is scheduled to leave for Pakistan on August 17 & will take on the Men in Green in a two-match Test series starting from August 21

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has reportedly requested a security consultant for their upcoming tour to Pakistan. The side is scheduled to leave for Pakistan on August 17 and will take on the Men in Green in a two-match Test series starting from August 21. Ahead of the tour, a BCB member voiced concerns over the security of its players traveling to Pakistan, while stating that the board has already reached out to the PCB over the same.

Bangladesh worried about security in Pakistan

BCB cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus told reporters on Wednesday that it was up to the Pakistan government to provide adequate security for the players. He noted that the Bangladesh side which traveled to Pakistan for the Asia Cup had received state-level security while admitting that many other international sides who toured the country were happy with the arrangements made.

We are also very much concerned about the security but after knowing everything and after getting assurance from them regarding the security we have fixed the tour,” he said.

“At the same time we have requested the government to give us a security consultant during the tour who will maintain communication with them at all times regarding the security issues,” he said.

Before the two-match Test series against Pakistan, the Bangladesh A team will travel to Islamabad for two four-day games and three 50-over matches.

Revival of live cricket in Pakistan

Pakistan has assured the stakeholders and the international sides of security for any series as it attempts to bring full-fledged cricket back to Pakistan. Following an attack on the Sri Lankan team in 2009 in Pakistan, other countries refrained from sending their players to the country, fearing the safety of the players.

However, cricket made its comeback in Pakistan recently and the PCB is hoping to get more sides to visit the country for the growth of the sport and their income.
